SMART Maker Festival is non-profit, family-friendly showcase of creativity, invention, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the great minds contributing in the fields of innovation and Technologies.
It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. It is a gathering of tech enthusiasts, fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, SMART Maker Festival is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments, projects.
The Smart Maker Festival 2023 was a two-day event that was held on January 14-15, 2023 at the IEM Management Building in Kolkata, India. The festival is organized by Smart Society USA and Canada in association with the Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, and the University of Engineering & Management.
The Event has been one of the greatest maker festival in India and this time the segments of the event were:
> The SMART Makers Exhibition, Where more than 150 shortlisted best scientific and artistic projects were showcased.
> The Makers Award , where more than 30 artists and makers were awarded for the contribution as a maker showcasing their creativity and also motivating many.
> The Motivational & Power Talks, by renowned speaker & entrepreneur Sumit Agarwal who overcame cerebral palsy challenges to open his own Public Relations firm.
> The Panel Discussion, with personalities from various industries under an umbrella to discuss about topics like "Adoption & Evolution of Tech Industry in India" & "Role of Technology & Ethics in Entrepreneurship".

As a Dev and Graphic Designer here are some challenges I encounter when creating a website for a SMART Maker Festival.
1. Planning and Design: Developing an effective website starts with careful planning and design. Understanding the goals, target audience, and desired functionality of the website is crucial. You may face challenges in determining the optimal layout, navigation structure, and visual design that effectively represent the festival and engage visitors.
2. Content Management: Managing and updating content can be a challenge, particularly for events where information changes frequently. Ensuring that the website always displays the most up-to-date schedule, participant information, and other relevant details requires a streamlined content management system (CMS) and a process for content contributors to submit updates.
3. Responsive Design: Creating a responsive website that adapts well to different devices and screen sizes is vital in today's mobile-centric world. It can be challenging to ensure that your website looks and functions properly across various devices, including smartphones, tablets, and desktops.
4.Performance Optimization: A festival website may have high traffic volumes, especially during the event itself. Optimizing the website's performance to handle increased traffic, minimize loading times, and deliver a smooth user experience is essential. You may need to employ techniques such as caching, image optimization, and server load balancing to maintain a fast and reliable website.
5.Ticketing and Registration: If the SMART Maker Festival involves ticketing or participant registration, integrating a secure and user-friendly system can pose challenges. You need to ensure that the registration process is seamless, data is securely collected, and tickets or confirmations are easily accessible to participants.
